And we’re slow to acknowledge the knots in the laces
Heart it races
And we go back to where we moved out to the places
Heart it races
I bought it in a can and stirred it with my fingers singing
Boom dah dah dah dah dah
Boom dah dah dah dah
Threw it out the window
And lately you been tanned, suspicious for the winter with your
Boom dah dah dah dah dah
Boom dah dah dah dah
Legs like little splinters

It’s a little known fact that recording engineers and producers can be some of the nicest, most helpful, and genuine people around. I’ve been lucky enough to ‘meet’ many of them through various message boards and email. I find that the majority of people working in this industry who love what they do are always willing to talk about their procedures and give advice if you need it. It’s so great to talk with someone who’s work you admire and not feel that you’re intruding in any way. Most of these guys and gals are happy to share with you. I think I picked the right profession.
Here’s a link to probably the best place to find these lovely folks:

Stinging Nettles Show!
Stinging Nettles will be playing a special all-age show this Saturday night (October 18th) at Senorita Burrita with our friends Gringo Star and And The Money Notes. Music is from 8pm to 11pm. We’re excited to play with Gringo Star again and equally excited to play an all-age show.
Senorita Burrita is located at 227 North Prince Street, next to Empire Furniture and Jewelry and across the street from the Chameleon Club backstage entrance.
I know you love live music… and burritos. So c’mon. You know you want to.

taking a break
The Stinging Nettles have given me carte blanche to record my backing vocals for the record. Which is nice as I can do it when I have the time and also take my time to get them right. So far, so good.
Been spending a lot of time in the studio lately. Splitting my time between working on the Nettles stuff and playing with parts of my new set up. I recently purchased Logic 8 and an Alesis HD24XR for tracking. I’ve used the HD’s before and it’s nice to have one of them back in the rack. I’ve been working in ProTools so long now that I feel really comfortable with it and I’m having a hard time embracing logic. I guess I just need more time.
In other news, They Were Only Satellites are set to start a record in November and I’ve been talking to Jack Dillman about doing a studio release as well. Check back for more updates.

Me watching me
Paul from Felix Lighter sent me this pic of me watching me while working in the studio. Eerie. In other news, we continue to work on the Stinging Nettles record doing backing vocals and added “candy” like backwards guitars, tamborine, other sounds. Now is the time when the record really starts to take shape and you’re making decisions and changes to make the album as a whole take shape. In many ways, it’s my favorite part of the process.
